Intentional by Design

Dr. Angela Burns is deeply committed to fostering a culture of intentionality and innovation. She leads with a clear vision to prepare students for a digital, design-thinking, and career-driven world — equipping them not only with academic skills, but also with the creativity, confidence, and character to become tomorrow’s leaders.

Dr. Burns brings more than a decade of experience in elementary education to her role as Executive Principal of Alex Green Elementary. A dedicated and visionary leader, Dr. Burns most recently served as Assistant Principal at Amqui Global Communications Magnet School in Madison, Tennessee, where she demonstrated a strong commitment to academic excellence, instructional leadership, and student success.

Throughout her career with Metro Nashville Public Schools, Dr. Burns has served in multiple capacities — including classroom teacher, school-based literacy coach, district literacy coach, and dean of instruction — consistently driving student achievement through a focus on high-quality instruction and equity.

Dr. Burns holds a Doctorate and Educational Specialist degree from Middle Tennessee State University, as well as a master's and bachelor's degree from Tennessee State University.

Under her leadership, Alex Green Elementary continues to build on the momentum of a transformative year. In the previous academic year, the school embarked on a bold journey to reset, refocus, and relight its mission — a journey that resulted in a significant academic leap from TVAAS Level 3 to Level 5. This success stands as a testament to the dedication of Alex Green's educators, the resilience of its students, and the strong partnership with families and the wider community.
